Bear Basin Adventures offers summer horse riding trips that will leave you in awe. We are located in beautiful Dubois, Wyoming, just an hour and a half from Jackson Hole and Yellowstone National Park. Our trips run late June to early September.
Imagine your own private base camp with an elevation of 8, 500 feet set on Bear Creek, tucked away in the middle of the beautiful Absaroka Mountains, in the heart of the mountains and far away from it all.
Our camp consists of well furnished wall tents with wood stoves, carpeted floors, chairs and two cots per tent making for very comfortable camping. A capped and piped spring flows right through camp offering great tasting drinking water right outside our dining tent. Our hot shower is that extra luxury that will make all the difference. Pack horses are not necessary on this ride as we have a fully set up dining tent and kitchen with all the necessary equipment and vehicle access close by to bring in your gear.
This itinerary gives you the chance to ride horses everyday over open meadows filled with purple Lupine and scarlet Indian Paintbrush, through Lodge Pole Pine covered mountains, along red rock cliffs and through stoney river beds. Our well trained mountain horses are safe and well cared for partners. Together you and your horse will climb mountain peaks and valley floors. If you don’t consider yourself to be a rider, no worries, we will instruct you and give you a horse that will help you to relax and enjoy your vacation. We have been matching people and horses together for years and take pride in providing a safe experience for even the most timid riders.
If you wish to have a day or two off riding then we can gladly accommodate. The area has some wonderful trout fishing opportunities, fantastic hiking trails and peace and tranquility for those who would like to soak it up with a good book in the hammock.
Trips are a minimum of four days with three guests but we suggest at least five days so as to experience all these mountains have to offer. We often put small groups together so do not worry of you are travelling solo or just as a group of two.
We also have some special itineraries available in our base camp.
Yoga and Meditation Ladies Getaway
We will gather as a small group of women to explore the serenity of the land, the quiet wisdom of horses, and daily movement and meditation practices tailored to create ease in body and mind. Along with the normal offerings of the base camp such as hiking, horse riding and fishing, this trip offers daily yoga movement and meditation lead by a certified instructor.
This five day trip presents a perfect place to recharge, reconnect and enjoy the harmonic rhythm of the horse.
$1,600 per person all inclusive. All levels of experience in yoga/meditation and horse riding are welcome.
Cowboys and Cabernet Ride
This is an extra special five day itinerary for those guests who enjoy a little more of the finer things in life. We will have an experienced qualified chef as your dining host on this trip, preparing multi-course meals of a finer kind. These will pair perfectly with the unique local and foreign, delightful wines and beverages on offer.
What you do with your time is up to you – but options include exploring the wilderness on horseback, trout fishing in one of the local streams, hiking, photography and wildlife viewing. At the end of the day, kick back by the fire with good company or a good book while enjoying a glass of wine and prepare your taste buds for the pleasure to follow. Camping has never looked so good…
Special rate of $1,700 per adult all inclusive.
