Bear Basin Adventures Camp Rides and Pack Trips

Bear Basin Adventures offers summer horse packing trips that will leave you in awe. We are located in beautiful Dubois, Wyoming, an amazing part of the world, and would love to share a true wilderness experience with you. Our trips begin in June and run into mid September.

We offer two distinct type of trips for you and your family.

Our base camp is set up with dining and kitchen tents Bear Basin Camp Ride

We can offer a riding and camping experience where you stay at a base camp each night, located in the beautiful Bear Basin set on beautiful Bear Creek, Wyoming. Pack horses are not necessary on this ride as we have a fully set up dining tent and kitchen with all the necessary equipment. This itinerary is a 6 day program where you have the chance to ride horses everyday over open meadows, through pine covered mountains, along red rock cliffs and through stoney river beds. If you wish to have a day or two off riding then we can gladly accommodate. The area has some wonderful trout fishing opportunities, fantastic hiking trails and peace and tranquility for those who would like to soak it up with a good book in the hammock.

We begin each trip on Saturday mornings from the trailhead and ride back on the following Friday. This is flexible to some degree so please check your available dates with us and we will do our best to assist. If you don’t think you are up to a 6 day trip just let us know and we can organize shorter trips that may include a small surcharge. The cost for this trip – “Bear Basin Camp Ride” - is $225 per person per day, plus a 15% service charge to cover taxes.

# Bear Basin Pack Trips

Alternatively for those families or individuals wanting a more hands-on adventurous camping experience, Bear Basin Adventures offers horse pack trips where we will set up camp in a few different locations throughout your stay, using pack horses to transport our supplies from place to place.

We have some set itineraries available for these trips, such as the “Superb Fishing in Simpson Lake” in September, “Dunoir Valley Ride” in July or the “Women in Washakie, fishing, hiking and riding trip” in August. Alternatively, depending on availability, you can organize your own custom trip of a minimum of 3 people for 4 days where you design your own itinerary based on your desires. You can fish for a couple days, ride for a day, explore the wildflowers while hiking a little and just come back to the camp area for your meals. We can help you achieve your dream wilderness experience while showing you the beauty of the Shoshone National Forest in an environmentally conscious way.
