June 29 – July 5 Dunoir Valley Ride

The Dunoir Valley is a Special Management Unit, adjacent to the Washakie Wilderness and the Teton Wilderness along the Continental Divide. It's a beautiful glaciated volcanic valley in the wildlife migration route between the Wind River and Yellowstone.

#

There are two tributaries (East and West Dunoir Creeks) that surround Dunoir Butte. The lakes and streams are all good for cutthroat and brook trout fishing. The open meadows offer great views among the conifer forests en-route up to the open alpine areas above tree line. It's a wonderful place with lots of wildlife and very few people. It's a great time to be in the wilderness with early wildflowers blooming amid elk and their calves migrating through.

This pack trip will leave from the Brooks Lake/Bonneville Pass Area on Sunday 29th June and circumnavigate the two valleys of the East and the West Dunoir. You will return here late afternoon Saturday 5th July. Directions, hotel recommendations and a detailed packing list will be supplied upon booking.

August 9-14 Three Waters Mountain

The northern Wind Rivers are fabulous wilderness country. Our camp will be situated near one of the many lakes in the Wind Rivers. There at the base of Three Waters Mountain we can relax, explore, read or fish. We will take day horse rides or hikes out to explore various lakes and streams to fish or to just relax by.

On our exploration of the triple Continental Divide on Three Waters Mountain we will see the headwaters of the Green, Snake and Wind Rivers, the major tributaries of America's headwaters. En-route there is a wide diversity of wildflowers and wildlife including moose, elk, mule deer and bighorn sheep. As you may know, this is the Fitzpatrick Wilderness, now considered one of the most spectacular wilderness areas in Greater Yellowstone ecosystem. This was the home of the prehistoric SheepEater Indians. This branch of the Mountain Shoshone culture centered its life around the magnificent Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep and evidence shows them to be a unique and thriving people.

The Wind River Range is spectacular scenery as well as world renowned fishing for Brook, Cutthroat, Rainbow trout and Grayling. This is a great place for folks to begin their fishing career, as the trout are "very cooperative." Be sure to bring your Wyoming fishing license, conservation stamp and any fly fishing gear you need. The most successful flies we use to catch the medium-sized trout in this area are: weighted black woolly-buggers, Parachute Adams, Royal Wulffs, mosquitoes & grasshoppers. You may also bring small lures such as rooster tails or Mepps spinners.

This pack trip will leave from the Union Pass Trailhead on Saturday August 9th, ride south along the Continental Divide, and will return here late afternoon Thursday 14th August. Directions, hotel recommendations and a detailed packing list will be supplied upon booking.
